Steps Against Winter Depression

One morning in December I could watch the following scene across the street from a bus stop:

A boy, obviously on his way to school, stood in front of a garden wall. He had an enormous red tomcat on his shoulder and this animal balanced skilfully while the boy tried hard to shake him off. With increasing panic he watched the bus stop knowing the bus would be due any second now... The cat was quite undisturbed. Once, he put a paw on the wall, but seemingly it felt too cold, so he quickly retreated to the boy's backpack. The moment when he was comfortably sitting, having tucked up his legs, the school bus arrived.

I suppose the cat spent quite an interesting day.

What one can do against the winter gloom

One morning in the last month of the year, one can see the following on the other side of a bus stop. Before a garden waits a boy, clearly going to school, and a fat red male cat sits on one of his shoulders.

The animal can balance well while the boy tries to shake him down. During this, a growing fear settles into him, since he knows the bus will come soon. The animal would cause trouble there. One time, the cat puts a foot onto a wall of the garden (=fence), but it seems too cold, therefore he hides himself within the backpack of the pupil. When he has made himself comfortable, the bus arrives.

It's going to be an interesting day to the cat after all.

That cat, an enormous and red one, usually sat down on his shoulder. And thus the boy walked lightheartedly to school, all the time skillfully balancing with the beast.

Hey! But this time it happened otherwise: the cat got terrified and started to attack him. It had seen that the carriage was coming, and when the beast had it right in front of its eyes, it touched the garden wall and felt how cold it was, which would have been unpleasant for it, and instead crawled into the boy’s bag.

There, he would always wait for a cat, with which he would go to school. The cat (which was large and red) would sit on his shoulder. Thus, the boy would make his way to school cheerily, and all the while balance the cat adroitly.

Ah! This time, the journey happens far otherwise. The cat trembles, and starts to fight him. It has already seen the great vehicle, and using its eyes it looks at it. It touches the fence around the flower-garden, but senses that it is cold and uncomfortable, and goes back to its original location, on top of the boy's bag.

Then, the great vehicle arrives there. Then the cat quickly makes its body comfortable. Ah! This day is an unhappy one for the cat, and it is just beginning...
